Craving crispy, flavorful pork chunks without the deep fryer? This healthier version of Puerto Rican fried pork chunks uses the air fryer to deliver bold flavor and crunch with less oil and mess. Traditionally known as carne frita, this dish is a Puerto Rican favorite. Here’s how I made mine, step by step:

Step 1: Prep the Pork
Start with 3 lbs of boneless pork loin, cut into large bite-sized chunks.

Step 2: Season Generously
Add the following to the bowl:
- 1 tbsp Badia Adobo with Cilantro & Lime
- 1 tsp Badia Sazón
- 2 tbsp Sofrito
- 2 tsp Grill Mates Roasted Garlic & Herb Seasoning
- 6 garlic cloves, minced

Step 3: Mix & Marinate
Mix everything well until the pork is evenly coated. Cover with saran wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to let the flavors soak in.

Step 4: Air Fry in Batches
Preheat your air fryer to 400°F. Place the pork chunks in the basket without crowding – cook in batches if needed. Cook for 15–20 minutes, adjusting the time based on how juicy or well-charred you prefer your pork chunks.

Optional – Deep Fryer Method
Prefer the traditional route? Heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy-bottomed pan to 350°F. Fry the pork chunks in batches for 5–7 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Drain on paper towels and serve hot.
Step 5: Serve & Enjoy
But don’t stop there! These Puerto Rican fried pork chunks pair beautifully with tostones, mofongo, yuca al mojo, or even a fresh green salad. The possibilities are deliciously endless.
